Freddie Lee Rhodes Jr. began his life Sept 5, 1957, to the union of Freddie Lee Sr. and Mary Thomas Rhodes in Champaign.



He passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2007.



On June 9, 1984, Freddie married Vikki Renee Paris in Champaign.  They were married for 23 years.



Mr. Rhodes leaves a legacy of warm memories to be cherished by his wife, Vikki Rhodes; two sons, Theodore Carter Jr. (Melissa) of Atlanta, GA, and Matthew T. Carter of Urbana; one daughter, Amanda Joy McCarrell (Karlynn) of Norman, OK; his mother, Mary E. Rhodes of Urbana; two sisters, Sheila Walker (Freddie) of Detroit, MI, and Florese Rhodes of Champaign; one brother, Dwyane E. Rhodes of Champaign; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, special loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Lee Rhodes Sr.; one brother, John Ray Rhodes; and his grandparents.



Mr. Rhodes attended Urbana High School where he was a star football, track and basketball player.  He worked for the University of Illinois Assembly Hall for over 30 years. He was known for his strong leadership skills and no nonsense attitude.  He was a member of The Church of the Living God where everyone knew him as "Brother Fred."
