Comment: Thanks so much to the committee for doing all the work to make this reunion happen. It will be so fun to see everyone again. It just does not seem like it was 50 years ago!!
What have you been up to?: My husband and I will celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary this year -- it has been a great adventure. We are not retired yet, but we do spend fewer hours per week on business these days. We love to travel and have been lucky enough to go to lots of places together. Our three children are grown and live around the country, so we also travel to visit them as well.
Hobbies or special talents?: Well, I pretty much still love to do the same things I loved to do back at Urbana High! Travel, read, sew, cook, swim, dance -- repeat.

Comment: I just want to say "Thank You!" to the reunion committee for all of the hard work! Hopefully, I'll be able to make this reunion! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for NO kidney stones or other health issues this time! NOTE: I'm a stroke and multiple TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack (mini-stroke)) survivor. (I'm blessed to only have incurred a pins and needles feeling in my right arm and leg, and right upper and lower lip on my face.) If I require medical attention while attending any of the events, please let the paramedics know this. :-)
What have you been up to?:
Enjoying life! After leaving Illinois in 1979, I lived in Texas ('79-'80), Southern California ('80-'07), and currently live in Arizona. I finally found someone to marry me in 2006 (we have been friends since 1982) and have a step-daughter and now two grand-kids. Played softball for 33 years (City Leagues and Regional Tournaments throughout Southern California and a few seasons in Arizona.) For 6 of those years (18 seasons), I also coached and managed Men's, Women's, and Co-Ed teams to numerous League Championships. Have been mountain biking since 1995 (30 years) in Arizona, California, Utah, and Illinois (Kickapoo!). Best racing finishes were 4th place (Mt. SAC race) and 6th place (Big Bear Fall Classic (in the snow)), per my age bracket in the Amateur classification. Worst race finishes include one DNF (Did Not Finish) due to a foot injury during the third lap of a 12-hour race, and an embarrassing 83rd at another race. What a humbling experience; that was a long drive home! Some days you have it, and that day I had nothing in the tank! :-) Currently??? Still mountain biking almost every Saturday and Sunday, but not quite as fast as I used to be. Hanging out with my wife, the grand-kids (14 and 11 yrs. old), and our two dogs, Bailey and Zoey (Siberian Huskies, but my wife calls them Sonoran Desert Huskies because they lay outside in 115 degree sunshine). I just retired at the end of 2024 and haven't had much time to figure out what I'm going to do in retirement. Would like to travel the country and ride as many mountain biking trails as I can, before I can't! LOL! I did just start playing Pickleball, which is fun! Looking for a hobby if anyone has any suggestions. |

Comment: Sorry I'm not able to attend this year, especially with all the hard work the committee has done. It is greatly appreciated to have the opportunity to get together with all of you. Hi and hugs to all! Reach out! Come visit!
What have you been up to?: I moved to a 15 acre ranch at the foot of the Collegiate Peaks in Colorado with an elk refuge as neighbors. I have spent the past 8 years upgrading the property and home, as well as adopting horses and cats. In between home improvement projects I go to music festivals, camp and travel while meeting wonderful people along the way. Mom and Barb are still in Denver so I make frequent trips down the treacherous US 285 corridor. Mom is 91 but doing well despite many challenges. Barb works at a landscape architecture firm.
Hobbies or special talents?: Attending music festivals and concerts, camping, observing wildlife, gardening, photography, hiking, reading, playing piano and mandolin. I enjoy adding to my National Park Passport. The last ink stamp I got was Big Bend National Park. Not traveling as much now that I live in paradise. Have bears, moose, bobcats, elk, deer and birds aplenty here.
No. of Grandchildren: | Zip, zero, nada. But I have a niece who wants to move here to help me establish an animal rescue on the ranch. |

Comment: After getting a BS in Ag Econ from the U of I, I spent 40 years in various facets of agriculture, mostly in international commodity trading. The first 20 years were corporate, the second 20 years were entrepreneurial. Moved from Urbana to the Minneapolis area in 1983 and have lived here since (other than a five year stint in New Jersey). We will be celebrating 40 years of marriage in August.
What have you been up to?:
We love to travel and have been getting 2-3 international trips/year in since retirement in 2021. Recent trips include New Zealand & Australia, Croatia, Panama, Spain, Portugal, France, Belize. We also have a little camper that we like to take on a few trips/year to places like Big Bend NP, Canyonlands NP, Arches NP, Telluride, Glacier NP, Great Smoky Mountains NP to name the most recent. And we have a little lake cabin in northern Wisconsin where we spend ~50 days/year. We hope to continue in the GO GO GO phase before downshifting to the SLOW SLOW SLOW phase. Our daughter lives in Bozeman, MT and our son lives nearby in Stillwater, MN. |

Hobbies or special talents?:
I almost entirely stopped playing golf when I retired...go figure...so the Saturday golf outing should be interesting! I have joined the ranks of pickle ball addicts, playing 10-12 hours/week. Still involved in strength training through an organization called Discover Strength. I'm also serving as a pro bono advisor to several early-stage companies and sit on several Boards. |
